Company Overview
AIM Management Group is a leading sponsor of mutual funds and other investment products. It was founded in 1976 by Ted Bauer, Bob Graham and Gary Crum, who had previously worked together at American General Capital Management.
TA’s Role
TA led a recapitalization of AIM in August 1993 to provide liquidity to two foreign shareholders and to increase management ownership from 40% to 72%. TA arranged a $180 million bank loan from a syndicate led by Citibank and provided partial liquidity to management.

P. Andrews McLane served on the Board of AIM.

Current Situation
In February 1997, AIM Management Group and INVESCO Plc, a publicly-traded UK investment management firm, merged to become AMVESCAP Plc (now Invesco Ltd.; NYSE:  IVZ). The combination of these two formidable asset managers created a global firm with nearly $500 billion in assets under management.
